Many adults with autism and other disabilities need a place where they can receive support that allows them to live a purposeful, productive life. The level of services varies greatly, with each person’s specific needs carefully evaluated to ensure that they achieve their full potential. We have a variety of communal living facilities and full time staff that work with each client, whether it is simply help with daily planning and structure or it is one-on-one support.
We have staff on site 24/7, with the level of staffing geared to the needs of the clients. Each home has a kitchen, living and dining area, bedrooms and bathrooms. Our Activity Center has a commercial kitchen, group activity area, nursing office, laundry facilities and other utilities.
There is a regenerative farming center next door that the residents can help with and a wide range of farm animals that they care for. Our Great Pyrenees help keep everyone safe and are also great therapy dogs. Chickens have always been favorites and collecting eggs each morning is a cherished activity.
Funding is provided by either private pay, or through the New Mexico Developmental Disability Waiver (DD Waiver) program. We work with special needs trusts and insurance settlements for clients from throughout the United States. For those individuals that qualify for the New Mexico DD Waiver program, the financial burden for the family is greatly reduced. Our capacity to serve individuals is limited at times, either by a shortage of homes or by a shortage of staffing. We will not accept new clients when we feel that it would compromise our quality of care, but will add you to our waiting list.
Prior to admittance, we will meet with the prospective client and their family or guardian. Medical and behavioral assessments will be reviewed and we will work closely with everyone involved to create a comprehensive treatment plan. We usually prefer that prospective clients spend time at the Ranch, often including an overnight stay, to help them get comfortable with the idea of living here. Tours can be arranged at any time and we encourage families to fully investigate the benefits and challenges when making this important decision. Once we have a definitive treatment plan in place, we can determine the appropriate fee structure.
